My subconscious is still hard at work

the app was free, so far so good, now it turns out that it is the biggest fraud perpetuated in the entire universe – you see, the sky is not really the sky, it is just a bunch of animations thrown together pretending to be the sky – i mean, i can see the sky from right here – and it is cloudy, or foggy, or whatever – the sky is blocked. Now, if I go to the sky app – it shows all these stars and satellites and all moving around as if the Universe is one buzy body.

Infact, the truth is that things are cloudy and foggy, and it is a slow night.

    What a big lie.

if you had read the online quickstart guide you would know that on foggy nights you have to freeze the iphone and then lightly breathe on the screen for a more accurate simulation.

now you have to download something else: simplemind xpress. double-tap bubbles to edit text, double-tap empty spaces to make new bubbles, drag one bubble on to another to link them. now you know how to make a semantic octopus!

so this is all just a simulation? it is not the real sky? i knew it! Its not even 3D – and where do i get a telescope that will work with the phone – one would think they’d be giving away free telescopes with the app.

  4. 22 Jul 02009 at 16:54 | #4

    the simulation is more real.
it was made to seem that way.
the sky has never shown you
an honest day’s light in its life:
all the blue, every silver lining
    — fraud. done with mirrors.

so, if i’m not mistaken, this is the same sky over and over again – right? – like watching re-runs over and over again.

    your very skin
    is just as dull.

so, nothing every blows up or smash into each other ? Exactly what is the purpose of this game?

  8. 23 Jul 02009 at 9:25 | #8

there are two fools in this world today.
one’s acquainted with the severed heads
    above, the turning, burning, ageless
population of the night; the other
knows them only by their winter dandruff.

so, is there a fast forward button? I mean – been watching this “sky” thing for a while – and things move kinda slow.

  10. 23 Jul 02009 at 19:05 | #10

modern stars move faster, city life like it is. it’s that the light takes so long to get to us that we see the stars while they’re still rural.

so, even if bought myself the best computerized telescope – i still could not fast forward the sky? This is like watching someone read war and peace – doozing off every few pages.

  12. 23 Jul 02009 at 20:13 | #12

so you’re saying, reading war and peace is the same as lighting yourself on fire for billions of years.

    i used to like tolstoy.…

what fire? nothing is going on – just some dots slowly, some very slowly, others extremely slowly moving across the screen – no fire nothing.

  15. 23 Jul 02009 at 22:19 | #15

    oh right

put a pinch of hallucinogenic in the headphone jack, light a flame there, inhale through the ipod jack.

now things should be moving. if not, repeat while rubbing the screen with a free finger.

ok, tried that – did not work as advertised. I have another question, how exactly can this app pretend to see the sky during the day with all the dots and all – when we all know that the only thing observable during the day is the USN?

  17. 24 Jul 02009 at 10:20 | #17

the programmers, being slightly crazy, left it to you to find the setting where you can control the brightness and opacity of the ground, sky, and stars. i already submitted a bug report that the setting only changes the color of things on the screen. they told me they were working on a desktop version that would give fuller control.

OK – that sounds better, so with the fuller control i would be able to control day and night and so forth? what if there were a few thousand people with this app trying to make day and night happen all at the same time – that might get things screwy, bad for productivity — ? I think we should have a limited supply of this app given to the Pentagon to be used in case of an emergency only .

  19. 24 Jul 02009 at 21:10 | #19

yes! then when times seem darkest, the joint chiefs of staff could leap from their desks, tear open their uniforms to their secret spandex, and cry out as one:

    IT’S DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME!

and then play some more with their new iphones.

I think this app is making a lot of people very confused – may be you could write a faq? Another question I had was what if the battery ran out – does that mean the stars just go dark also??

  21. 25 Jul 02009 at 7:53 | #21

no, now i have another app 4 u. “afpak mobile pro.” it’s a flight sim! very good. there are even “missions.”
